In School and Wondering Am I Pregnant?
If you are a student in college or high school and have a possible unplanned, unexpected, or unwanted pregnancy – you are probably feeling emotional, and confused, which is normal. You probably have many questions and are not sure where or how to get information or help.
In this time of uncertainty, you can count on CAPS Pregnancy + Medical Clinics staff to be with you to provide a safe, private place where you can feel supported and get accurate information, so you can make confident informed decisions.
Some Possible Pregnancy Questions
You are unique, and your situation is unique, but you’re not alone, and there are answers to your questions.
We can help you work through the issues you may be thinking about – your school studies, your parents, the father, your friends, and of course your future. We are here to provide a compassionate, supportive place for you to talk about your questions including pregnancy testing, pregnancy options, and other information you may want, so you can decide on next steps.
One frequent and important question is about abortion legality. In the State of California, a forced abortion is illegal. We can help you understand your legal rights, so you can decide what’s right for you.
You may be wondering many things like:
- Am I pregnant?
- How do I know if I’m pregnant?
- What are my options?
- What do other pregnant women do?
- What about my future?
- Will I lose my scholarship?
- How will I finish school?
- What will my parents say?
- Should I tell the father? How do I tell him?
- What if I’m not sure about my pregnancy decision?
- What will my classmates/professors/teachers think?
- I don’t have health insurance. How can I get medical care?
- How can I provide for a child?
- Can I get parenting education?
- How does adoption work?
The First Step – A Pregnancy Test
First take a deep breath and confirm if you are pregnant or not. Try not to get ahead of yourself and worry about being pregnant before you are sure.
A missed period is the most common indication of pregnancy, but it doesn’t necessarily mean you are pregnant.
Below are some common pregnancy symptoms, but having some or all of these pregnancy symptoms still does not mean you are pregnant.
- Late period
- Missed period
- Tender or swollen breasts
- Frequent urination
- Nausea or vomiting
- Fatigue
- Lightheadedness or fainting
- Backaches
- Food cravings or aversions
- Darkening of the nipples
CAPS provides a private, Free lab grade pregnancy test, and a Free pregnancy ultrasound to find out how far along you are. You will receive the full results during your appointment. For an ultrasound, it must be between 6-24 weeks since your first day of LMP (last menstrual period).
Our compassionate and supportive medical and support staff are highly trained and dedicated to helping you. Some have been in the same situation as you.
Reach Out / Contact Us
No matter what choice you make, CAPS will be there for you before, during, and after your pregnancy.
CAPS is different than some other medical clinics since we receive no financial profit from your pregnancy because we do not perform or refer for abortions or arrange adoptions. We do refer to other organizations for adoptions if you are interested in that option. We will help you examine the full range of options (abortion, parenting, adoption) including the variables for each option, so you can make the best choice for your situation.
All pregnancy services are FREE, including FREE pregnancy test, FREE ultrasound, and FREE pregnancy and abortion education.
Other Services – We also provide low to no cost STI / STD testing.
All our services to you are private – your privacy is important to us.
To get help, contact us at any of the San Diego area clinic locations, call us at 619-337-8080, or schedule an appointment.
